The video begins with the fact that the man connectssmartphone Redmi Note 9 to the charger, and the cake in the form of a battery icon “accumulates charge.” Then the hero of the video eats this “battery”, turns into a fat man and takes off into the sky. After that, the picture is replaced by animation, which ends with an explosion that suspiciously resembles a nuclear one.
This ad generated a negative reaction.public, as it reminded the Japanese of the tragic events of the mid-20th century. Then the atomic bomb, codenamed “Fat Man” was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki.
Xiaomi apologized for the commercial in the official Twitter account and promised to prevent such misunderstandings in the future.
